Northern Conversions · Campervan Configurator

Five campervan layouts. One workshop. Your build.

Start with your van size, choose a layout, then add the upgrades you want. Every figure here is an estimate — we’ll confirm exact pricing before reserving a build slot.

1

Choose your van size

Size first — it sets which layouts you can choose from next.

2

Choose your layout

Same workshop, same small team. What changes is the layout, the van size and the build method.

3

Who supplies the van?

Bring your own van and we’ll convert it — or choose Signature Complete and we’ll supply a brand-new one, sourced, registered and handed over ready to drive.

4

Choose your base van

The exact model shapes the build — details like bed pods — and sets your Signature Complete price if we supply it. Pick the base van you have or have in mind.

5

Add your upgrades

Tap a category to show its upgrades — every price includes parts and fitting.

6

Choose your cabinetry

Cabinetry is finished in our booth — most customers choose a Farrow & Ball shade. The shade is included in your build price.

Shades shown on screen are indicative — we’ll match the real thing in the booth.

Campervan conversion — frequently asked questions

How much does a campervan conversion cost with Northern Conversions?

Conversion-only pricing runs from £25,000 + VAT (£30,000 inc VAT) for the Signature Felton up to £42,000 + VAT (£50,400 inc VAT) for the Otterburn and Blagdon. Choose Signature Complete — where we supply the base vehicle too — and prices start from £70,566 inc VAT, rising with the layout and the van you pick. The table and configurator above show the exact from-figure for each build.

How long does a campervan conversion take?

Build time runs from around 8 weeks for the Felton up to 16 weeks for the Otterburn and Blagdon, with the Budle and Bamburgh in between — the more construction a layout involves, the longer it takes. We confirm your exact build slot and collection date in writing before you commit.

Can I supply my own base van for a conversion?

Yes. Most customers bring their own new or good-quality used van for us to convert — that’s the Conversion-only route. If you’d rather we sourced the van too, choose Signature Complete: we supply a brand-new base vehicle, register it, convert it, and hand it over ready to drive.

What’s included as standard on a Northern Conversions campervan?

Every layout includes a Victron-based electrical system with an EICR test certificate, Autoterm diesel heating, solid-wood worktops and hand-finished cabinetry, plus our 12-month workmanship warranty. The exact standard kit varies by layout — each build’s own page lists it in full.

Do I pay VAT on a campervan conversion?

Personal buyers see inc-VAT figures throughout the configurator. Business buyers who can reclaim VAT can switch to the “Business — + VAT” view to see ex-VAT figures, which we confirm exactly on your written quote.

Do I need to tell the DVLA and my insurer about a campervan conversion?

Most people do both. Once your van has fixed seating, a bed, a table, cooking facilities and storage, you can apply to the DVLA to reclassify the V5C from panel van to motor caravan — usually with photos of the finished conversion, which can affect things like vehicle tax and how it’s treated at MOT. Tell your insurer too: a standard van policy won’t cover a converted interior, so you’ll want specialist campervan insurance that covers the full value of your build, not just the base vehicle.

Is it cheaper to convert a van or buy a ready-made campervan?

If you already have a suitable van, converting it is usually the cheaper route — you’re not paying for a vehicle twice, and conversion-only prices start from £25,000 + VAT. If you need us to supply the van too, Signature Complete sits close to a similarly specified factory-built campervan — but you get a bespoke layout, hand-sprayed cabinetry and our 12-month warranty rather than a production-line finish.

What’s the best base van for a campervan conversion?

It depends on the layout and the space you need, but we do have preferences built from experience. For the long-wheelbase Otterburn and Blagdon we like the Peugeot Boxer — it’s a touch wider than the Sprinter, so it doesn’t need internal bed pods. For a compact daily driver, the VW Transporter or Ford Transit Custom on the Felton and Budle are hard to beat for parking and everyday use. We’re always happy to talk it through before you buy.
